Job description
The Estimator is a pivotal role responsible for accurately forecasting project costs fostering customer relationships and ensuring that project specifications are communicated effectively to the installation and production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimations & Proposals
Create precise estimates that align with project specifications and company profitability
targets.
Draft detailed and compelling proposals that cater to client needs and stand out in the
competitive market.
Review proposals with executive team for discussion and approval before submittal to
clients.
Keep an updated list of leads and proposals to manage the pipeline of future business.
2. Contract Management
Review finalize and ensure adherence to contracts with customers. Ensure SFK is
protected in key aspects of the contract.
Review and discuss with the executive team the starting times work force planning
project schedule material requirements cash flow and schedule of values closeout
documentation and any other customer requirement to complete the project.
3. Lead Management
Identify manage and ensure timely followup on potential leads.
Monitor platforms like BuildingConnected for new bid opportunities and act promptly.
4. Site & Customer Visits
Regularly visit project sites and customers to understand their needs and challenges
such as access safety requirements travel and/accommodations water power
equipment rental etc.
Ensure accurate data collection (sizes quantities materials etc) during site visits for
more precise estimations.
5. Relationship Building
Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with customers vendors and other
stakeholders.
Engage in regular communication to understand and address their evolving needs.
6. Information Gathering & Dissemination
Collect all necessary project requirements and specifications.
Ensure timely and accurate transfer of this information to installation and production
teams.
7. Record Keeping
Maintain organized and updated records of all estimations contracts and proposals.
Prepare a detailed schedule of values for each project.
Prepare a detailed project summary of each project to be review by the executive team.
8. Use of Estimation Software
Proficiently utilize The Edge estimator tool for preparing estimates and analyzing data.
9. Reporting
Prepare and present weekly reports detailing estimation progress upcoming bids
review timelines submitted proposals contract awards and schedules.
Ensure that all bids are adequately reviewed approved and tracked.
10. CRM Management
Update manage and monitor leads using the CRM system to ensure a seamless flow of
information and enhanced customer experience.
Bachelor s degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field.
Proven experience in project estimation preferably in specific industry e.g. "construction or
manufacturing".
Proficiency in using estimation tools preferably The Edge estimator.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in CRM systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to various sites and customer locations.
Capable of spending extended periods working on computers and estimation tools.
