Job description
At SMS Equipment, our Project Manager is responsible for managing in scope contracted mechanical availability guarantee and fully maintained rental program while supporting Company business activities to achieve, and support SMS policies, goals and objectives. The position will support the Fort Hills site .
The shift rotation for this position is 5x2 or 4x3.
The salary range for this position is $140,000-$160,000 base salary depending on location, plus incentive.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage contracted availability guarantee and accurately record, communicate, follow up, and reconcile equipment availability per contract terms.
- Identify root cause of shortfalls and escalate with stakeholders, maintain issue visibility, and required follow up.
- Manage fully maintained equipment programs and new equipment deliveries.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to plan downtimes, coordinate needed resources to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, in budget and within required timelines.
- Manage WIP related to rental units.
- Work with contract owners to manage budgeted costs associated with repairs, maintenance, and customer charges.
- Manage customer relations with focus on meeting contract objectives and reducing TCO.
- Ensure the provision of service to the customers follows company policies, targets and supports the company image at all times.
- Use problem solving skills to resolve any customer concerns optimally seeking a win – win resolution.
- Support and participate in customer JOIFUL meetings.
- Support business strategies to ensure stakeholder needs are met.
- Foster effective communications between business units.
- Support the business in managing resources and assets in correlation with monthly and yearly budgets.
- Promote and influence cross functional team collaboration maximizing use of available internal resources.
- Ensure the team is operating under contractual obligations, procedures, and control.
- Collaborate on workforce forecasting and scheduling.
- Collaborate on business process management.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a post secondary education in Engineering, trade certificate or a PMP certification in a related field as well as a minimum of 5 years experience with a strong equipment support orientation. Additional requirements include:
- Self-motivated and proactive who keeps abreast of new technology and best practice pertaining to SMS’ products and services.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to set objectives that are realistic, but aggressive.
- Ability to interpret and communicate contractual agreements.
- Ability to evaluate alternatives and assess advantages / risks in making decisions which are timely, decisive, and effective.
- Ability to generate new ideas, approaches, or techniques to solve difficult problems and challenges.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Experience in the heavy equipment/mining industry.
