The Opportunity:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the management, development and efficient operation of the Engineering employees

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life: - Maintain positive MLF image.
- Daily payroll, schedule vacations, prepare work schedules and daily work assignments.
- Ensure engineers follow the Operating Engineers Act and deal with Government inspectors.
- Monitor boiler water testing and WW testing and give instruction for necessary changes.
- Read and interpret log books daily, read multiple log sheets daily.
- Where required, update and manage cost saving spreadsheets.
- Track utility consumptions and keep up to date spread sheets.
- Prepare required Conservation reports, N.P.R.I. inventories and spill reports.
- Monitor daily WWTP Report for the City of Lethbridge.
- Order required parts and supplies, monitor and maintain department parts stock levels.
- Maintain and monitor outside service contracts.
- Schedule work for engineers, with maintenance and outside services.
- Maintain records of all types.
- Track PM’s and work orders and ensure completion.
- Schedule and coordinate projects, schedule plant inspections.
- Deal with the various contractors as services are required.
- Give direction and lead ongoing jobs.
- Instruct and oversee workforce and inspect the actual work done.
- Inspect plant equipment, house keeping duties, and team progress in general.
- Enforce HACCP and CFIA regulations and plant GMP’s.
- Enforce safe work practices and Company policy.
- Plan and hold safety and policy meetings, investigate accidents and incidents.
- Collect statements and do investigations regarding disciplinary issues.
- Answer phone calls and emails daily about operations and other various things.
- Meet with sales and technical people on a regular basis.
- Continuously strive for top performance from staff and equipment.
- Help solve various plant and production problems.
- Research new data and equipment.
- Organize and schedule training for staff.
What You’ll Bring: - At least a 3rd Class Power Engineering Designation.
- At least ten years working experience in a powerhouse function.
- At least five years experience in a direct supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of ammonia plant operations including powerhouse support.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
