YVR - Airside Safety Escort Supervisor

Job description
We are rapidly evolving our business at YVR, and we are looking for a seasoned and motivated Airside Safety Escort Program Supervisor s.
Working with our internal and external stakeholders, the Airside Safety Escort Program Supervisor assists in directing airside activities for this critical division of Securiguard' s Aviation Operations as part of the YVRAA Airside Safety Escort Services contract.
Reporting directly to the Airside Safety Escorts Operations Manager, the Supervisor will provide oversight for Airside Safety Escorts at multiple sites across the Aerodrome as well as ensuring that overall Safety and Security policies and protocols are adhered to.
The Day to day
- Coordinate with the Airside Safety Escort Operations Coordinator to ensure that sufficient levels of trained and certified escorts are available to fulfill the airside operational requirements at any given time.
- Liaise with Airport Authority's operations and engineering staff, as well as the various contract service providers, to ensure that airside projects satisfy all operational safety and security requirements.
- Provide safety briefings to unionized staff at direction of the Manager.
- Provide guidance on aviation safety and security matters ensuring compliance with regulation, legislation and company specific policies.
- Conduct site reviews as directed by the Manager, developing audit/review reports, reviewing findings, and making recommendations to management.
- Train new employees and recurrent training for existing employee in various operational changes as they become available
- Provide leadership, advice and counsel to Airside Safety Escort Program members on safety and security policy and practices such as Safety Management Systems (SMS), Incident Response, Report Writing and Access Control.
- Assist the Manager with investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets, etc.
- Manage issuance of all equipment and uniforms for the department, including a fleet of up to 100 vehicles.
- Ensure resources and equipment is appropriately and efficiently allocated.
- Overseeing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) as determined by the Manager.
- Ensure staffs maintain mandatory and regulated training and certifications in accordance with legislation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
- Maintain an understanding of construction methodologies, aircraft movements, airside traffic directives, operational procedures and assessing locations and heights of equipment in relation to runways and taxiways.
- Data entry and analysis of health and safety related trends
- Represent the company on various committees such as Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, Ramp Operators Committee, Senior Leadership Team.
What you bring:
- Minimum of three years' experience in an airport environment, preferably in an analytical capacity, or two years' experience in airside operations at a class 1 or 2 aerodrome.
- Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a 'hands on', problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents.
Need to have.
- Valid BC Security License or ability to obtain
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's license with clean driver's abstract
- Valid "D" AVOP and/or Ability to Obtain
- Valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
Additional Information
- Majority of time working outdoors.
- Up to 12 hours of work each day, determined by operational requirements.
- Availability to work evenings and/or weekend work.
- On-call 24/7 for Operations support on critical issues during Snow Ops
- Operate vehicle for daily duties.
