YOUNG LEARNER / YOUNG ADULT TEACHING OPPORTUNITY with THE AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER TANGIER AFTER SCHOOL EFL PROGRAM - START DATE SEPTEMBER 2024  The American Language Center (ALC) Tangier is looking for experienced full-time classroom teachers (21-24 contact hours per week) who are familiar with and supportive of communicative, student-centered language instruction and the use of ed-tech programs and apps in the classroom. This entails managing a student-centered classroom with regular, varied pair- and group-work activities, games, movement and creative in-class task-based projects as well as managing Google Classrooms for both in-class and at home student use. Fun and effective skills based English instruction is our goal with a primary focus on what students can do in English.  The American Language Center Tangier is a member of the American Cultural Association, a private, non-profit association with 12 Language Centers located in Morocco. Classrooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs with USB ports, computers, cameras, wifi, and AC. Our staff room and classroom hard drives are stocked with supplementary materials. Teachers have access to the ALC shared Google Drive folder and Google Classroom templates which include resources for teachers and students.  Professional development opportunities offered through the ALC include in-house workshops and participation in our annual all-ALC TEFL Conference.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• B.A. degree

• CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, TESOL Via Lingua, Peace Corps’ TEFL certification, SIT TESOL Certificate or equivalent min 120-hour, classroom-based TEFL certification that includes live observed practical teaching hours with real learners.

• Candidates must document a minimum of two years’ overseas general EFL teaching experience (full-time), preferably with adolescents, young adolescents and children.

Experience in university level instruction, ESL, EAP, Business English, test-prep, tutorial (one-on-one or very small group) and short-term substitution is assigned less weight in assessing experience and overall suitability for this position. SALARY & BENEFITS:

Other possible  opportunities include:

• Leading clubs for students - weekly meetings conducted in English on a wide variety of topics (such as US History & Culture, drama, public speaking).

• Assisting with projects such as lesson plan editing and participation in our community service club
