Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our client's construction team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee all aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage construction projects from inception to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved and critical path activities are identified.
Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Follow change management processes internally and externally to capture changes to design, costs, and schedule.
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
Ensure inventory procedures are followed to maintain accurate stock counts.
Complete RFPs for subcontractors, evaluating bids, negotiating pricing, and ensuring compliance with subcontractor qualification procedures.
Ensure field staff are aware of all internal and external safety requirements, as they pertain to worksites or clients, and ensure adherence.
Experience with API 653 is desirable.
Exposure to Engineering, Construction, and Field operations.
General understanding of pipeline and terminal operations.
Ability to predict obstacles, challenges, and risks; ability to proactively determine mitigation strategies and innovative solutions to problems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire project teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Primavera P6, Procore, or Microsoft Project.
PMP or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
