Customs Supervisor (Fastfrate Group)

Job description
Purpose of Position:
The Customs Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Customs Department personnel and functionality to ensure regulatory compliance and expedient clearance of customer shipments across borders and through bonded facilities. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and update Fastfrate processes by educating internal/external Customers to avoid any potential monetary losses.
Key Accountabilities:
- Address and resolve any customs service issues brought forward from internal and external sources to avoid penalties
- Train, mentor, and monitor Customs employees
- Responsible for staff scheduling (vacations/time off)
- Train new drivers on U.S. and Canada Customs procedures during new hire orientation
- Along with the manager, develop department goals, responsibilities and assign duties to employees
- Provide assistance with ACE/ACI submissions to the coordinators during peak times and provide after-hours support to the team.
- Develop solutions to improve department results and procedures
- Monitor loads to ensure ACE/ACI transmission is accepted by Customs and liaise with customs brokers to ensure entries are received in a timely manner
- Investigate, and document all customs penalties received from Canada Border Services and U.S. Customs
- Attend on-boardings for new customers for Customs purposes
- Continuously monitor changing Customs regulations and update department procedures to ensure Challenger is compliant
- Enter and close house bills for logistics when needed
- Assist drivers in completing applications and booking FAST appointments when needed.
Other Duties

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma
- Three to five years of customs specialist experience
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation an asset
- Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) designation an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- ACE/ACI knowledge is required
- Strong working knowledge of Canada Border Services and U.S. Customs
- Previous leadership or supervisory training considered to be an asset
