We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Red Seal certified Journeyman Electrician. This role is based in our PVC facility in Langley, BC and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an energetic individual with a keen eye to detail and a positive attitude for this role. The successful candidate will be focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement while fulfilling the role of Journeyman Electrician.
This is a full-time position with rotating 12hr shifts (7am-7pm), with a proposed hourly pay range between $45-50, depending on skills, knowledge and experience.
Requirements
Principle Responsibilities:
- Work with a variety of electrical, pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, composition. Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments and controls on new or existing equipment.
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and devices, as well as plant machinery, equipment, building and physical structures.
- Lead and develop more junior Electricians; provide training to apprentices or helpers as assigned
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.
- Remain knowledgeable and familiar with all national, provincial and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety, and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures. Follow all plant policies and practices to ensure safety, quality, service and cost objectives are met.
- Provide 100% support and commitment towards IPEX’s objectives; efficiently implementing and maintaining 5S System for the PVC plant.
Requirements:
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification with 2+ years hands-on electrical experience in Manufacturing
- Ability to read and understand electrical, layout drawing and P&ID blueprint
- Must have strong, logical decision-making skills along with solid time management and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to remain professional under pressure and exhibit a positive attitude.
- Be familiar with cable lists, instrument lists, instrument data sheets, I/O (input and output) lists, instrument location schematics, motor control schematics, process control loops, and network diagrams
- Exhibit sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbally
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practices with excellent housekeeping and organizational skills
- Ability to work on-call schedule, when required, as well as shift work when needed
- Perform various other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing plant environment requiring varying degrees of physical labour including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing heights in excess of 10′; working in confined spaces, such as silos may be required occasionally
- The use of hand tools and machinery
- Considerable amount of sensory attention is required in a manufacturing plant environment
