About the Role: Global Durham is currently seeking a full-time Videographer to join the news team. Reporting to the News Director, the successful candidate for this position will be required to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, weekdays, nights, and weekends. This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by: - Generating and pitching original story ideas.
- Writing, voicing, shooting, and editing news stories for broadcast and globalnews.ca while meeting multiple daily deadlines.
- Posting updates online as a story is being developed.
- Gathering and producing original content of local and / or national interest.
- Creatively using production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytelling.
- Establishing and maintaining a network of news contacts throughout the region
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring: - Previous work experience in broadcast and online journalism.
- Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
- Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
- Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
- The ability to effectively solve problems and troubleshoot while dealing with the unexpected.
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of tight deadlines and breaking news.
- Proven ability as a team player with a positive attitude.
- Great communication and organizational skills.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
