Job description
Position Overview
A Maintenance Technician worker performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of the buildings do not deteriorate. A successful candidate will possess general knowledge in repairs and have experience in property maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Report maintenance requests to the Property Manager
- Fill out Maintenance log and boiler room log as required, keeping accurate notes of what has been done, and how long it took and what was completed
- Perform maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs to ensure that the building is properly maintained
- Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters and drains
- Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems
- On a daily basis perform preventative maintenance (garbage chutes/ storage/ boiler rooms/ secure exit and entry doors)
- Ensure issues and/or repairs have been completed based on requests
- Order supplies for buildings; retain receipts from all purchases for the building to the Property Manager
- Itemize all purchases of material with the corresponding unit that is being renovated
- Job requires on call assignment on a rotating shift for emergencies after hours, lockouts, vehicle ticketing and other duties as required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma
- 2 years related work experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and be detail oriented
- Good problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Excellent maintenance skills (tools, building science knowledge etc.)
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
- Available for flexible schedule
