About Us
The joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) project. The project involves refurbishment of all four reactors at the Darlington Generating Station and consists of two phases – a Definition Phase and an Execution Phase. The Definition Phase includes the construction of a full-scale reactor mock-up to simulate key elements of the refurbishment work, and the development, procurement and testing of specialized tooling required for the project. The Execution Phase involves refurbishment of the reactor cores using the tools and methods that were developed and tested during the Definition Phase.
The Jr. Planner is a 16 month co-op position for those interested in working on the planning/scheduling of work on a large scale construction project. Reporting to the Canatom work planning specialist, the Junior planner will work with the Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) Construction series Leads to create and maintain a detailed 6-shift plan (covering next 3 days, on a rolling basis).
What You'll Do Here
• Prepare and develop complex construction and engineering schedules using MS Visio and Primavera (P6)
• Prepare reports for management regarding project scheduling activities
• Work with Construction and Series Leads on scheduling activities and assist them in determining schedule priorities • Provide support to other planners
• Develop and maintain project schedules, and resource plans utilizing project management techniques and software
• Interface with engineering personnel, project management and other performing organizations to assess and report project progress, as required
• Facilitate the development of remedial action plans
What You Bring To The Team
• Engineering student preferred, minimum 2nd year or higher
• Knowledge of Power plant technology and CANDU nuclear generating stations will be beneficial to the position
• Prior construction or engineering experience would be an asset • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible, ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and time-pressured environment
• Familiar with MS Office suite, and in particular expertise with MS Visio is required
• Knowledge of Primavera P6 would be beneficial, but not mandatory. Selected candidate will be provided training
