This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health services to the community of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals as required.
Job Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired. Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required. Current registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association. Possession of, and ability to maintain current registration as RN(NP) with Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association. Current BCLS and ACLS certification. Current certification in ITLS and PALS.
Experience Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, acute or emergency care. Minimum of one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion. Previous experience working within a community setting.
