Campus Planning and Facilities department is seeking a
temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Parking Control Coordinator . This position is responsible for coordinating Institute parking in conjunction with the parking contract company. The incumbent ensures facilities are fully utilized, issues parking permits, maintains records and submits monthly statements
Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : - Confirms eligibility of applicants for parking, including Management/Excluded, Faculty Staff Association (FSA), BCGEU Instructors and BCGEU Support Staff employees, students, and visitors.
- Issues permits based on customer type, vehicle type and permit type (i.e., paid vs. courtesy).
- Liaises with contract parking company, including monitoring parking lots, enforcing rules, voiding violation notices if issued in error, managing overflow parking, and addressing general inquires.
- Communicates employee payroll deduction requests to the BCIT Finance department.
- Monitors, processes and maintains employees’ eligibility for spots on the waitlist.
- Assists customers with online parking, provides cancelation of parking services, issues refunds and addresses inquiries.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies for the issuance of parking permits.
- Assists with annual review of parking policies and related marketing materials.
- Obtains tow list from contract parking company and communicates same to Campus Security.
- Liaises with staff in Safety, Security and Emergency Management (SSEM), Facilities and Campus Development and contractors for special requirements such as barricading/coning, closing or rerouting traffic managing special events and enforcement issues.
- Ensures campus maps and parking brochures are available upon request.
- Provides contract parking enforcement officers with monthly lists of lost/stolen/unreturned permits.
- Prepare the biennial permit replacement in advance of permit expiry dates, and ensures permits requested in advance are properly filed for distribution.
- Continually updates and maintains the Parking Coordinator Operations Manual and related documents.
- Collects fees for permits and issues refunds as applicable.
- Maintains cash float. Deposits revenue to the BCIT Finance department and prepares monthly cash reports.
- Responds to front counter inquiries about Campus Planning and Facilities (CPF) services.
- Assists with issuance of parking permits and access cards for CPF contractors as needed.
- Assists other CPF personnel as needed.
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
- Undertakes related duties as assigned consistent with the job grade for this position.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : Definition: The qualifications section for this position was developed using the approved job evaluation plan, agreed to between the BCGEU and BCIT. The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent’s existing qualifications
Education: - Completion of Grade 12, plus additional specialized training of up to one year in duration.
Experience: - Two years of general experience plus up to two years of practical current experience in a similar position inside or outside the Institute.
Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise: - Formal training and intermediate experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
Communication/Interpersonal Skills: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with hostile individuals.
Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.): - Accurate typing skills of 50 wpm.

Salary Range Salary Grade 5; $52,079 - $56,133 per annum
Additional Salary Information External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with set progressions to the maximum as per the Collective Agreement. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment
