The Manager, Facilities will work as part of a larger team which is responsible to lead or assist with supporting SCI’s distribution and transportation network across Canada. As manager in the team, you will plan with and direct vendors and SCI staff during execution of facility maintenance, renovation, set-up, or decommissioning projects. You will also own co-ordination activities related to execution of preventative and emergent maintenance events. As part of planning and management activities, you will also maintain various scheduling and equipment inventory databases. Additionally, developing, securing approvals, and managing project budgets will be a measure for success for this role.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Automation, in this role, you will:

  1. Execution:

a) Managing and directing the monitoring and implementation of building and equipment maintenance programs. This includes forklifts, racking, generators, HVAC, sprinklers, compressors, ventilation, lighting, waste, and automation systems. You will provide priorities and direct task management to 3rd party vendors and contractors complete these works.

b) Manage, Direct and Lead vendors and SCI operations teams; this will involve you setting budgets, timelines, and priorities for:

i. Existing or NEW customer initiatives

ii. construction and renovation projects

iii. elements of facility start-up and decommissioning.

iv. Other various facilities initiatives, such as racking changes, renovations, and equipment upgrades .

  1. Planning and Management:

a) Managing and leading in identifying specifications and preparing RFQ/RFP for material handling equipment and warehouse capital equipment projects (i.e., HVAC, plumbing, racking)

b) Managing the maintenance and administration of spare material handling equipment inventory

c) Identifying opportunities to implement best practices across the SCI distribution network.

d) Managing processes to Update and maintain facility drawings in AutoCAD.

e) May be required to participate in on-call and after-hours support.

We are looking for a team member that has:

· Post-Secondary Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred.

· A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive engineering/technical experience in a warehousing/logistics environment.

· Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in managing capital projects.

· Experience in warehousing/logistics preferred.

· Excellent organization and project management skills including planning, scheduling, assigning, budgeting, and managing.
