Ace Hotel Toronto is our first-ever spot in Canada, built from the ground up in the heart of the Fashion District, near St. Andrew’s Playground Park. Our civic hub here is animated by a legacy of homegrown magic, spurred by ingenious types with off-the-wall ideas who’ve long made the multicultural mosaic of this city their home — from Queen West and Chinatown to the famed Horseshoe Tavern and on down to the shimmering shores of Lake Ontario.
Our Sales Manager is responsible for business development (rooms only groups as well as meetings/events) while maintaining + growing group accounts in-order to achieve guest satisfaction and generate revenues for the hotel. This individual must be a curious, kind and inclusive human, self-driven by exceeding financial goals, contributing to overall strategies and consistently be a leader within the hotel via working collaboratively with multiple departments.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to successfully complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Proactively solicit and contract new business opportunities with consistent business development tactics (cold calls, site visits, entertaining and other correspondence) to maximize guest room, meeting/event, and F&B sales.
- Achieve or exceed assigned quarterly financial goals in rooms and events
- Achieve the assigned target goals for proactive sales efforts (i.e., site inspections, prospecting calls, etc.).
- Implement a targeted and direct strategic plan to penetrate specific markets within the territory as directed by the Director of Sales.
- Create action plans on a quarterly basis or as requested by the Director of Sales..
- Positively contribute to the achievement of overall hotel goals in ADR, Occupancy, and RevPAR.
- Create an annual travel calendar that supports the marketing/business plan as well as quarterly action plans.
- Plan and prepare appointments for sales trips. Create pre-trip and post-trip reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure all promotional and distribution channels are fully exploited within travel agencies and target markets to maximize domestic and international sales opportunities.
- Conduct creative site inspections with on-site clients
- Accurately confirm all bookings, quotes and negotiate rates while adhering to hotel rate structure, credit policies and general hotel policies and procedures.
- Respond to RFPs and creative proposals within 24 hours.
- Assist in booking and finalizing catering contracts.
- Maintain file base in sales and catering software platform, including group status (prospect, tentative, definite and turned down), applicable BEOs, up to date client financial details, activities, CRM tracking and more.
- In close contact with the client or group while in house to ensure satisfaction and also to enable re-solicitation for future business.
- Involved with guest feedback to maintain product need and standard of hotel performance.
- Participates in formulation of Annual Sales Plan + Strategy alongside Director of Sales
- Community involvement – attend appropriate community functions and become part of local business organizations
- Use superb time management skills and effective communication with customers and coworkers.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation, menus, guest room details and more
- Provide feedback to the Director of Sales on changing conditions, including trends in the competition, as a result of direct solicitation in their market areas.
- Promote positive relations with all guests and employees.
- Maintain an ongoing, high level of knowledge of the competition’s product..
- Attend all internal meetings as required.
- Ensure financial success of the hotel by ensuring that all bookings are profitable for the entire hotel.
SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS
In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:
- Constantly communicate with all other department heads both verbally and in written form.
- Be on property as needed while events are being executed to ensure client needs and requests are adhered to.
- Perform special projects or assignments based on guest’s needs or market demands.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum two years in sales capacity in a comparable hotel, resort, restaurant, or entertainment venue. Additional experience in events, banquets, and/or catering preferred. Delphi experience preferred. Entertainment group sales focused preferred. Expertise gained working in a service and quality centric environment is preferred and considered an asset.
