Bartender

(10 Auxiliary)
Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department

While this role can support events at Royal Athletic Park during the entire year, the primary season for shifts start at the end of May and continues into October. The event driven schedule can be daytime, afternoon, evening and/or weekend shifts of various lengths.

POSITION FUNCTION
Operate a lounge bar and mix and serve beverages.

KEY DUTIES
Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including wine, beer and mixed drinks to patrons;
ensure minors are not served by checking identification.

Set up and dismantle bar station and lounge area; maintain an inventory of supplies by
Replenishing stock; complete stock sheet and clean bar area.

Accept cash and make change; replenish cash float as required; complete bank deposit slip.

Perform related duties where qualified.

INDEPENDENCE
Work is assigned by supervisor and reviewed upon completion.
Problems are referred to supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Effort:
Lift and move heavy supplies and equipment. (occasional)
Mental Effort:
Deal with complaints and negative comments. (rare)
Visual/Auditory Effort:
Normal.
Work Environment:
Bar and lounge area.
Work irregular hours.

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
Complete forms accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:
Grade 10.
Responsible Beverage Service Program. (10 hours)
Must be 19 years of age.
Required to obtain criminal record clearance.
Experience:
Not required.
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER:
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.

Work schedule: As needed, (events based)
$22.88 per hour, Pay Grade 103
