Job description
Our client is a successful and growing consulting firm offering project management services for government agencies, ministries, and organizational units.
They are adding a Project Manager who will be responsible for leading and directing the development and implementation of transportation, infrastructure improvement, or new building projects. Projects are taken from concept through to final completion. The new hire will liaise with the Client/Project Sponsor to guide the strategic direction of the project.
The new hire will be able to work from one of the following locations: Kamloops, Kelowna, and Vancouver, BC with Kamloops or Kelowna as preferred. Hybrid model will be offered, fully remote an option.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the projects including planning, design, construction, and close out
- Develop and implement project management plans based on the principles of PMI
- Establish, manage, and control project scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change
- Represent the project to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and deliver presentations and lead and facilitate team meetings
- Mentor, train, and direct activities of the Assistant PM and/or Project Coordinator
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with company’s Leads, including:
- PMO Lead (Project Management Office) – to support professional project delivery
- Resource Lead – to inform resourcing needs on assigned projects
- Client Services Lead – to ensure key client accountabilities are met
- Policy and Standards Lead – to ensure quality, health and safety, and other key corporate policies and procedures are followed
- Business Development Lead – to guide business development proposals and pursuits
Qualifications:
- Ability to achieve the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation within 6 months of commencement
- Degree or diploma in related discipline (i.e., business, planning, real estate, resource development, architecture, or engineering)
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience, in the public or private sector, leading and managing relevant projects
- Experience in business planning, contract management, financial management, and negotiations
- Experience developing strategic partnerships and working directly with a range of partners (local government, First Nations, public sector, private sector)
- Experience managing a diversity of complex, multi-faceted projects simultaneously
- Experience at a senior level leading projects of large scale and complexity
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives
- Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects
