Description

The Plumbing and Heating Estimator plays a crucial role in assessing costs and preparing accurate estimates for a variety of projects, including residential, multi-residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial. This professional analyzes project plans and specifications, estimates costs of materials and labor, and prepares detailed proposals for potential clients.

Responsibilities

•Carefully review architectural plans and technical specifications to understand plumbing and heating requirements specific to each type of project.
•Analyze and fully understand tender documents (public projects).
•Estimate accurately the costs associated with plumbing and heating works for different types of buildings, considering materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
•Determine quantities of materials required for plumbing and heating systems based on project specifications and specific requirements for each type of building.
•Obtain quotes and prices from suppliers for plumbing and heating materials, comparing offers to select the most cost-effective options suitable for each type of project.
•Use specialized software to prepare detailed estimates, integrating material, labor, and equipment costs, as well as overheads and profit margins specific to each type of project.
•Prepare and present estimation proposals to potential clients for residential, multi-residential, commercial, institutional, and/or industrial projects, explaining cost details and addressing their specific questions and concerns.
•Review and update estimates in case of changes in project plans or market conditions, considering the particularities of each type of project.
•Work closely with engineers, architects, and other project team members to ensure estimates meet specific requirements of each type of project and corresponding budget goals.

Requirements

•Degree in mechanical engineering, building mechanical technology, in Plumbing / Heating, or related field is an asset.
•Experience in project estimation, preferably in plumbing and heating field, an asset.
•Proficiency in cost estimation software.
•In-depth knowledge of plumbing and heating materials and techniques, including applicable codes and standards.
•Proficient in reading and understanding plans and specifications.
•Familiarity with computer-aided design software, such as AutoCAD, is an asset.
•Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients, suppliers, and project team members.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
•Attention to detail and precision in estimation work to ensure the accuracy of projected costs.
•Organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
