Join our dynamic team in Drilling & Well and take on an exciting role focused on the maturation of the Bay du Nord field development project. As a Well Engineer, your contribution will be focused mainly on early phase engineering of well design. This includes working across disciplines within the project and within the D&W line organization, including drilling, completions, interventions, subsea, subsurface and facilities. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to help shape the D&W solutions and technical well concept, follow-up early-phase studies, and establish a solid foundation as the project looks towards detailed well planning and engineering.
We are looking for a Well Engineer that has field development and engineering design experience. Local experience, planning within the East Coast Canada operating jurisdiction will be consider an asset. The D&W team is a part of D&W PC2 INT DW portfolio which organize all international deepwater projects and business opportunities in D&W.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to deliver field design solutions and well planning.
- Participate and lead value improvement projects that focus on simplification and opportunities for cost savings.
- Follow-up external studies to support D&W deliverables towards the field development project.
- Participate and deliver risk assessments in well planning to support concept selection.
- Prepare decision support package documentation.
- Engineering design using internal and external software. i.e. Landmark software suite
- Develop and review of Well Barrier Schematics.
- Evaluate offset data and implement lessons learned.
- Evaluate and specify well equipment.
- Prepare benchmarking and estimates for well execution.
- Participate in subsurface meetings and discussions during field development and well planning.
- Develop and update well and completion drawings.
- Perform detailed studies into new technologies, well design and optimization projects.
- Plan performance improvement workshops.
- Support management of change, input to dispensations, and communications with the relevant authorities.
- Operational mindset to bring forward safety in design elements for future well operations.
- Identify opportunities to contribute to the commercial success of the project and are responsible for identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Delivery of complex engineering projects with minimal support and guidance.
- Develop the competency of the team in own area(s) of expertise.
- Support towards regulator compliance and communications.
Qualifications
- Experience 10+ years of relevant industry experience, including experience with an Oil and Gas Operator.
- Educated to degree level, professional experience can compensate for lack of formal qualifications.
- Knowledge and experience with local regulatory requirements.
- Solid knowledge in Wells (Completion) engineering.
- Solid operational Wells (Completion) engineering experience.
- Broad knowledge and experience of drilling engineering planning and operations is desirable.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently/unsupervised and in collaboration with others, as required to achieve agreed objectives.
- Understanding of field development activities and QA/QC processes.
- Good English writing and oral skills.
