Audiology Technician, Temporary Full Time (Approximately 3 Months)
Rehabilitative Services, James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander

Definition of work:
The Audiology Technician will be primarily responsible for assisting with the audiological evaluation of clients under the supervision of an audiologist. The successful candidate will work closely with the audiologist and primarily service the adult population. Under the supervision of the audiologist the technician will help with programming, fitting and instructing clients on the care and maintenance of hearing aids thru the Provincial Hearing Aid Program. The Technician will l also be responsible for the repairs of hearing aids as well as ordering clinic supplies for the program

The Audiology Technician may also work with the pediatric population, under the direct supervision of an audiologist, to assist in assessments and hearing rehabilitation. The technician would also perform repair and maintenance of hearing aids as well as perform other assigned duties as required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of, and be responsible for promoting and supporting, person-and-family-centered care. They must demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

* Frequently Moves/lifts up to 10lbs; Repetitively required to complete Pushing/pulling with medium force (22-44lbsF)
* May work in awkward or cramped positions. Work repetitively involves fine manipulation and hand-eye coordination; reaching/stretching, bending/twisting and repeated bouts of low-level postures such as squatting, crouching or stooping.
* Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. May be exposed to clients with potential risk for aggressive behavior.
* Work Environment presents potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas
* Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipment (as applicable)

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
* Completion of a two-year diploma in Communications Disorders or equivalent approved by Central Health.
* Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I-CARE)
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-26 ($24.06-$26.63)
