Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, Materiel Management, the Supervisor plans and directs work of the Environmental Services department. Coordinates the work of the Senior Porter, Environmental Service Attendants and Clerk.

Experience

• Three (3) years supervisor experience with proven leadership skills or equivalent. 
• Minimum of 5 (five) years environmental cleaning services experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge/experience with SAP and ESP (scheduling program) functionality preferred.
• Knowledge of WHIMIS, Infection Control principles, environmental sanitation and safety.
• Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health regulations and other related codes such as CSA standards.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Grade 12. 
• Must have a certificate in Environmental Service Management or a suitable combination of education acceptable to the Employer. 
• Familiarity with national, provincial and regional standards for Housekeeping.
• It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of training.

• Accurate, effective communication in English is required. 
• Must have computer and keyboarding skills and may be required to pass a test. 
• Works within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures. 
• Must be able to work cooperatively with patients, visitors and other Centre personnel. 
• Must be able to work well under minimum supervision, showing organization, adaptability and judgement.
• Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
