About The Opportunity:

Working as part of the Parks & Solid Waste team, you will be responsible for skilled horticulture work involving the cultivation of flowers, plants, and shrubs in landscaped areas. Further responsibilities include the maintenance of landscaped and park areas and assisting with the division's Integrated Pest Management program. From time to time, you will be required to oversee the work of several employees engaged in a variety of routine parks tasks. As a Gardener, you will be required to work outside in all weather conditions.

About Your Background:

As the successful candidate, you will have Grade 12 and ideally, you are working towards a college certificate in Horticulture or a related discipline. A valid Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification is considered an asset. (If no OFA Level 1 certification, the incumbent will be required to complete this training within six (6) months of date of hire). You have at least one year of directly related horticulture experience and ideally a Pesticide Applicators License (Landscape General). A valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out of province equivalent) is required as well as a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position.
