We are excited to have a Division Administrative Assistant - Division of Instructional Services - Curriculum opportunity available as soon as possible.

Lethbridge School Division is looking for the ideal candidate for the position of Division Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, strong technical skills, a sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills. This position will be responsible for administrative functions and serve as a contact person for the Instructional Services. Working in the Division of Instructional Services in the Curriculum Resource Centre (CRC), the Division Administrative Assistant will be responsible for daily operations of the CRC and supporting Learning Commons within the Division. As well, this position provides ongoing technical support for Follett/Destiny software and ‘first contact’ coordination to the Learning Commons Facilitators in the Division.

The Role This position assists in supporting the Director of Learning, the Director of Student Services, the Counselling Coordinator, and the Coordinator of Early Learning by completing all aspects of publication purchasing, cataloging and circulating CRC resources throughout the Division. This role is responsible for loans for outdoor education, gymnastics, snowshoes and band/concert equipment as well the coordination with the City of Lethbridge for skating and swimming classes. The position assists in routine administrative functions including word processing, maintaining databases, reception services in the CRC, and the operation of standardized office equipment. This position provides mentorship and guidance to all Learning Commons Facilitators in the Division with the support from the Director of Learning.

This position requires the following: -Understanding of the Learning Commons philosophy -Strong oral and written communication skills -Strong technology background -Ability to show attention to detail -Proficiency with document preparation that is business professional -Effective time management and organization skills -Ability to work in a team atmosphere -Strong problem solving skills and the use of critical thinking -Ability to be discreet and keep work related knowledge confidential

The successful candidate must be highly confidential, a self-starter, personable, able to deal with the public, be a team player and have proven administrative skills. The individual must be flexible, decisive, be able to multi-task and display a high level of initiative and maturity. A strong technology background is essential, including intermediate level skills within Microsoft Office. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker and willing to find creative solutions.

What will you work? 1.0 FTE (35 hours per week)

Education and Experience Required: -Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a related field; such as Learning Commons/Library operations or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Employees who do not have a two-year diploma in a related Learning Commons/Library operations program are required to complete five courses through Mohawk College. -Proof of Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED). Education received outside of Canada will require a Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) or International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) confirming high school or post secondary equivalencies. **Candidates may be tested for computer proficiency

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide: -A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions. -A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services. -Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire. -Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.

Benefits Salary range for this position is $47,000 - 50,000 depending on education and experience.
