UNIT SUMMARY:
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Public Affairs Specialist will support the work of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program for Ontario West, under the direction of communication leads at St. Joseph’s Health Care London and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. The aim of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program (OSP) is to make evidence-based psychotherapy and related interventions available for Ontarians with depression, anxiety and anxiety-related problems. Using a standard referral and intake process, these individuals will have centralized access to structured psychotherapy through virtual and in-person options. This program has been implemented successfully in four pilot sites across the province, and the new Ontario West program is one of a number of expansions in Ontario.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Public Affairs Specialist is a key member of the Public Affairs team, responsible for providing communications advice and support to the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program leaders. A skilled communicator, the Specialist will use his/her superior listening and writing skills to develop strategic communication plans with measurable goals and objectives, generate storytelling ideas for multiple platforms and shape compelling pitches/plans for both internal and external audiences. S/he will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to assess their corporate communication needs, and work closely with team members to ensure seamless development, production and presentation of all corporately produced communication materials (print, digital and multimedia). The Specialist will consult with the Communications and Engagement Officer when necessary. With a background in marketing, communication, journalism or public relations, the Specialist will have up to date knowledge of best practices in strategic communication planning and theory and will apply his/her expertise to support the department and hospital's brand standards and strategic corporate communication needs.
