Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation is presently recruiting for
COMMUNITY JUSTICE NAVIGATOR & LEGAL EDUCATION OFFICER
(Term Contract – 1 year)
Thunder Bay, Timmins, Kenora, Sioux Lookout ON
The Community Justice Navigator and Legal Education Officer (CJNLEO) is a community-based position located in a Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN) community. CJNLEOs are responsible for assisting NAN communities with the coordination and set up of Starlink systems and associated equipment for fly-in courts and Justice system use. The CJNLEO will also work closely with NALSC Public Legal Education to provide education materials, program/workshops and general knowledge regarding Justice
System and general legal education.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma and some previous education or training in law related field.
• Good understanding of the NALSC programs and services
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous people, Indigenous culture, traditions and justice system
• Experience and knowledge of the legal system is an asset.
• Experience working with NAN and in First Nation Communities
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office
equipment
• Ability to speak Cree, Oji-Cree, or Ojibway an asset.
Location: Thunder Bay, Timmins, Kenora, Sioux Lookout ON
Hours: Full Time – Contract (35 Hours Per Week)
Salary: In accordance with established pay grid and commensurate with education/ experience
