A day in the life of an editor:
The editor is responsible for researching, writing and preparing weather-related content that will be broadcast on all MétéoMédia platforms. He also participates in the preparation and updating of content on a daily basis, the creation of headlines and the maximization of content. He is also called upon to record voiceovers or go in front of the camera for certain types of content. Finally, he will also be able to collaborate in the preparation of special content and seasonal projects.
Specifically, you will have to:
- Write and prepare meteorological content for the different platforms;
- Propose 3 to 6 headlines for each content intended for digital platforms, ensuring maximization and optimal performance;
- Write news content in line with our editorial strategy for all platforms, including TV;
- Manage news content and assume editorial leadership within the team;
- Monitor the weather situation on a daily basis;
- Validate information sources to ensure rapid updating of news if necessary and compliance with our journalistic code of ethics;
- Supervise the creation of graphic elements (images and videos) that can support news and add these elements to content pages using content management systems (CMS);
- Participate in the collection and analysis of information (telephone interviews, research, news feed, highlighting content sent by users, etc.);
- Ensure rapid and effective coverage during active weather;
- Depending on the editorial priorities of the day, identify with the members of the team on duty the priority subjects for the different platforms;
- Identify and highlight relevant content for users and viewers (user-generated content, educational documents, addition of links to thematic sections, etc.);
- Manage “active weather” alert banners displayed on the website, the mobile site as well as on other interactive applications;
- With the available measurement tools, validate the results of the different contents in order to verify and understand the interest of our users for the different types of content offered on a daily basis;
- Ensure the exchange of content between MétéoMédia platforms;
- Participate in the dissemination of information on social networks;
- Participate in the preparation and updating of the editorial calendar;
- Translate and revise texts;
- Participate in the research, writing, and preparation of audiovisual content and sometimes be able to present it on camera;
- Carry out any other responsibilities or tasks related to this position;
- Flexible hours! In active time, we work in a 24/7 context.
You have:
- University degree in communications, journalism or any other related discipline;
- Minimum of two years of relevant writing experience;
- Experience and interest in scientific popularization;
- Good knowledge of geography, meteorology and environmental issues;
- Experience in advertising writing, an asset
- Excellent written French;
- Essential bilingualism
