DONOR PROSPECT SPECIALIST
EXTERNAL RELATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Operations, this role will primarily be responsible for the identification, research of donor prospects (corporate, individual, foundations etc.) and preparing written reports based on key biographical, demographic and philanthropic information resourced. Prospecting research will also encompass current donors to support reengagement strategies for the Fund Development team.
Working closely with the Advancement Analyst, the Donor Prospect Specialist will also be responsible for supporting data related tasks and actions related but not limited to certain software platforms like, Raiser’s Edge (Fundraising CRM), Power Bi, Just Giving etc.
The candidate will process a keen technological acumen, enabling them to effectively navigate and utilize digital tools, platforms, and systems to streamline processes and innovate solutions to support and elevate fundraising efforts across the institution. Moreover, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively present findings and recommendations, as well as the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Generate and prepare in-depth reports to identify new prospects (donors and community partners) at different giving ranges (i.e. Annual Giving to Major Giving) targeting individuals, corporations, foundations and granting organizations.
- Develop and synthesize prospect information in a clear and concise manner while utilizing existing software (i.e. Raiser’s Edge and iWave) and other sources to produce detailed prospect profiles including, biographies, giving capacity/history, philanthropic interests, community investment initiatives and connection to NorQuest College.
- Collaborate with the Fund Development and Donor Relations team by investigating and analyzing prospect information to support donor pipeline by identifying and appropriating giving ranges to ensure best prospects and outcome of solicitations.
- Proactively track and disseminate donor and prospect-related information by monitoring media sources.
- Support and contribute to guidelines and annual plans related to prospect research with the intent to drive data-driven decision making and fundraising strategies.
- Monitor and report on pledge receivables and completions, process pledge reminders and sponsorship invoices, and work with Development Officers to alert them to the status of pledges and determine actions going forward.
- Upload of Alumni data into Raiser’s Edge by collaborating with the Alumni Relations Officer.
- Produce donor lists for activities or events related to fundraising and donor relations.
- Increase data integrity of Raiser’s Edge, including identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, doing routine maintenance, assisting with improving automation, documenting processes and supporting/training staff inside and outside of Advancement as required.
- Create or modify online giving landing pages, including JustGiving and establish criteria for directing donations.
- Request the creation of new donation funds as required, determining donation departments and signing authorities.
- Process, receipt and deposit all charitable and non-charitable contributions received in accordance with donor intent and NorQuest College policies while adhering to CRA rules and regulations governing contributions and their reporting (including all credit card and online donations, Gift-in-Kind, matching gifts and payroll).
- Support when required weekly Deposit & Journal Entry Report for Finance and follow through on all processes to enable and assist with reconciliation between the NorQuest College Foundation and NorQuest College.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Minimum 2 Year Post Secondary diploma and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience
- Minimum five (5) year’s experience in fundraising or community investment with working knowledge of third-party fundraising and donor prospecting practices and programs.
- Professional experience with creating strong written communications including letters, impact reports, website materials, etc.
- Superior ability with MS Word and MS Excel and functional knowledge of MS Access.
- Experience with donor management and relationship building
- Strong ability to problem solve and use judgment in situations requiring initiative.
- Experience in project management would be considered an asset.

SALARY: $49,129 - $63,854 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full time, perm position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
