Yukon Womenʼs Transition Home Society is hiring a Casual Transition Home Worker.

Casual Position

We work from a grass roots dignity preserving approach applying a feminist philosophy. As a member of the Transition Home staff, Transition Home Workers engage with women and their children who are accessing our services due to violence or abuse. We work for social change to end all forms of violence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support, referral, advocacy and accompaniment to women and their children accessing our services
• Support women in crisis in-person and by telephone
• Maintain the safety and security of the people accessing our services and our property
• Assist with the efficient operation of a 24-hour facility

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Combination of experience and post secondary education in a related field
• Knowledge of violence against women and issues facing women who have experienced violence and/or abuse
• Knowledge of resources available to women
• Experience working in a cross-cultural setting and knowledge/sensitivity to the needs of Indigenous women and their children
• Proven ability to respond to crisis and support others in a professional manner
• Satisfactory current criminal record check
• Valid Yukon Drivers License (or able to obtain one)
• Proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel and Web browsers
• Knowledge of Response Based Practice an asset
