McInnes Cooper is seeking a forward-thinking Systems Administrator to join our Technology & Information Services team for a full-time permanent position in our Halifax office. This position plays a key role in supporting the services the team delivers to the firm as well as implementing and maintaining the firm's security platform.
As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:
- Manage and support enterprise services including ERP, databases, cloud email and collaboration, server hardening, Antispam, MFA, and remote working services on Windows and Linux servers in a VMWare environment;
- Maintaining the following hardware solutions including networking and wireless infrastructure, firewalls;
- Participate in special technology projects including performing solution and requirement research, assisting in the product selection and business case development, documenting and implementing the solution; and,
- Assist and provide mentorship to the Operations Team as required with more complex technical problems and requested service changes.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or related experience;
- A minimum of three (3) years experience working within the field of Systems Administration;
- Microsoft and/or security-related certifications such as SSCP, CISSP;
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800 series and ISO27000 series;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SAML 2.0, OAUTH, Kerberos;
- Experience in supporting database services, Microsoft 365, Virtualization, Anti-spam and email filtering, Multifactor authentication/Identity Services, and Remote Access Services;
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python;
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language; and,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
