Home to about 1,200 residents, Fort Simpson is the hub of the Dehcho, the gateway to Nahanni National Park Reserve, the only “village” in the NWT, and a cradle of Indigenous culture and tradition. Fort Simpson can also be reached via a scenic drive from Fort Nelson, British Columbia on the Liard Trail Highway (watch out for bison!), or a drive from High Level, Alberta, skirting the Mackenzie River.

Located in the Elder’s Care Home (ECH) in Fort Simpson and reporting directly to the Nurse in Charge (NIC), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides practical nursing care to long-term and respite residents. The LPN will assist residents with all activities of daily living to achieve their optimum level of health. In addition, you will assist the NIC with the day-to-day administration and clerical functioning of the ECH.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: 

The completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing Certification and two years of recent experience in a long-term care setting.
