Network Field Technician
Fort McMurray
Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Network Field Technician for work Local to Fort McMurray with a 7 day on and 7 day off rotation. This is a local to Fort McMurray role, no camp or flights will be offered. ***Relocation assistance may be provided for the right candidate
Job Summary:
Network Field Technician is responsible for network development and maintenance in the field at the client site. The technician works with the organization’s technical team and its clients to install, configure, maintain, and fix all LAN/Wan and other equipment issues, ensuring efficient network functionality.
Required Work Experience:
- Troubleshooting basic networking issues as they arise and resolve system glitches with solutions to overcome restrictions to ensure the network is working efficiently with a long term focus
- Experience in installing single-mode, multi-mode, fiber optic, and CAT5/6 cabling
- Experience in Installing wireless computing networks, cabling, connections, switches, and routers
- Knowledgeable about TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and other networking basics
- Inspect LAN/WAN infrastructures and troubleshoot any issues affecting them, Fix and maintain hardware and peripheral devices
- Familiar with virtualization technologies, such as Hyper-V and VMware
- Ability to provide technical advice to clients concerning the usage of the network
Must Haves :
- Safety First Mindset
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent (recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment)
- Ability to pass a pre access drug and alcohol test and maintain the ability to pass subsequent pre access testing
- College Technical Diploma in a related field with a networking certificate required.
- Customer service focus with excellent customer service skills
- Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry
- Ability to grasp new techniques, and deal with rapidly changing events
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments
- Knowledge and skill of tools, equipment, and materials and practices of the trade
- Knowledge of applicable telecommunication codes, standards, and regulations
- Fluent in English written and verbal communications
- Team Player
Physical Demands:
- Will be required to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time
- Will be required to work at heights including ladders, and man lifts
- May be required to carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs for short distances
