What we are looking for:
The WRSOS is seeking highly self-motivated individuals able to work independently from home to answer and respond to WRSOS helpline calls. The responsibility of the Wildlife Helpline Educator is to provide information to the caller on how to resolve their concern and to minimize the unnecessary removal of wildlife from their natural habitat unless it is truly orphaned, injured, or in need of assistance. If the animal requires help it is up to the Wildlife Helpline Educator to coordinate a way for that animal to be rescued/picked up and transported to the nearest target veterinarian or wildlife rehabilitator. The management of helpline calls is the most important role of the WRSOS organization. Additional duties include logging all calls, coordinating helpline shifts, following up on unresolved calls, additional admin tasks, and the occasional rescuing of wildlife when required.
The position will be 35 hours a week at $15.00 per hour.
Grant requirements
- Between 18-30 years of age
- Must be returning to school in Fall 2024 in a related field
- Candidate must reside in Saskatchewan
They must have a strong interest in biology, conservation, environmental science, or other related fields. They must have excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively. Proficiency with Google Workspace, incl. Slack and web applications are required, background or desire to work in social media/marketing is an asset.
