Assignment: 8 weeks (30 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $17.50/hour

The Position: Reporting to the Director, Revenue Development, the Fundraising Assistant will provide fundraising and administrative support to help the Abilities Centre achieve its revenue goals.
As a valuable member of the Revenue Development team, the successful applicant will gain experience in all aspects of a coordinated fundraising program in a charitable organization. This role will support the Director, Revenue Development in fundraising administration while providing the opportunity to gain experience in project management, relationship-building, and the overall fundraising process.
The Fundraising Assistant will assist in a variety of development tasks and must possess the ability to work as an active team member, while remaining cognizant of his/her primary role. The successful candidate will be energetic, mature, and versatile, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a busy office, with strong administrative, multi-tasking and writing skills.
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Eligibility: - Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*;
- Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- International students are not eligible. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Director, Revenue Development, Abilities Centre staff and volunteers, the Fundraising Assistant will support the sustainable revenue generation necessary for the Abilities Centre’s continued success, including:
- Prepare development research materials
- Manage and update Abilities Centre’s tracking files and database
- Support the execution of cultivation and stewardship plans
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising event planning
- Build relationships with community partners, stakeholders and donors
- Cultivate a member-centred environment through exceptional service
- Establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers and community partners
- Foster a work environment that values and encourages teamwork and empowerment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - Pursuing a university or college program in a related field, including Fundraising Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Event Planning or Management, and Communications
- Required: Current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
- Experience in database management is an asset
- Experience volunteering or working for a non-profit or charitable organization is an asset
- Knowledge of inclusion, accessibility, and accommodation an asset
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer/donor-focused approach and tact, sensitivity, and diplomacy
- Ability to function equally well independently and as part of an effective team in an entrepreneurial, hands-on environment
