The Systems Engineering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the systems engineering team. This position plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of innovative and compliant medical devices The Systems Engineering Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, ensures the integration of various subsystems, and works towards the achievement of project goals within established timelines and budget constraints.

· Lead and manage a team of systems and human factors engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

· Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs) to ensure seamless integration of systems and human factors engineering activities.

· Drive the creation and maintenance of requirements, specifications, and documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.

· Lead the validation of complex medical device systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO).

· Work closely with the risk management team to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with medical device systems.

· Collaborate with other functional teams to ensure alignment of systems and human factors engineering efforts with overall project objectives.

· Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.

· Participate in resource planning, including staffing and budgeting for systems engineering projects.

· Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient project execution.

· Stay current with industry regulations and standards related to medical devices and ensure systems engineering activities comply with these requirements.

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years of relevant experience including 3+ years of managing technical teams through product development.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration preferred
• Extensive experience in systems engineering, preferably in the medical device industry.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to medical devices.
• Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading projects from concept to market release.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with risk management processes in the context of medical device development.

Salary range – CDN$107,679 - 143,200 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location. If this position is filled outside the Greater Vancouver, BC area, this salary range will vary depending on the specific hiring location.)

Full-time non-sales employees are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
