StackTeck, with over five decades of mold building innovation, is a leading source of high productivity tooling solutions for the injection molding industry. StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML. StackTeck recently invested in new capacity to facilitate customer projects for In Mold Labeling (IML) and other packaging applications. This new StackTeck facility is dedicated for automation, robotics engineering, assembly, test and injection molding systems integration. This 13,000 sq. ft. new facility is a 15 minute drive from the main StackTeck mold manufacturing facility near Toronto International Airport.
SUMMARY:
Working in a team of designers/engineers/service technicians, the Electrical Designer will play a critical role in the design and implementation of robotic automation systems. The right candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience from drafting machine electrical schematics, sizing and setting up servo drive systems, wiring, and troubleshooting. The Electrical Designer may have had past experiences working for other machine builders and systems integrators, notably in the plastics packaging industry.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Quoting/Mechanical Design/Electrical and Controls Design/Procurement/Service teams to design and build electrical control systems for automation cells
- Thoroughly understanding the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Industrial Robot Safety requirements, design electrical and pneumatic schematics for control, power distribution, and I/O panels.
- Develop and maintain bill of materials for electrical hardware and devices, cable lists, and wire number lists.
- Participate in design reviews
- Provide mentorship to Junior Electrical Designers
- Some travel may be required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Post-Secondary education – Completion of College or University in Electrical Engineering/Design including Mechatronics, Industrial, and Electromechanical disciplines
- Minimum Five (5) years’ experience as an Electrical Designer
- Proven knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
- Proven knowledge of CSA, UL, and safety code/compliance of industrial robot systems
- Strong communication and computer skills
- SolidWorks Electrical is an asset
- AutoCad 2D is an asset
