Do you love to cook? Are you passionate about food? We are seeking Cooks to join the celebrated Food Services team at Labrador West Health Center. As a Cook at LWHC you’ll help bring recipes to life! Surrounded by fresh ingredients and the best equipment, you’ll be immersed in a world that goes beyond food preparation – bringing joy to the lives of the patients, their families, and the staff of LWHC. 

These are part-time union position with the United Steelworkers of America. While these positions are part-time, there is an opportunity to earn full-time hours on a regular bases.

Job Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
• Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
• Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
• Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
• Works closely with Dietitian/Food Service Manager, Food Service Supervisor and health care team to ensure accurate patient nutrition
• Maintains the privacy, safety, and dignity of each customer by observing client confidentiality and by closely adhering to safety and sanitation standards

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience as a Line, Grill, Short Order Cook required
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
• Flexible; evening and weekend work may be required
