The Ministry of Corrections Policing and Public Safety has an exciting career opportunity as Director of Programs of the Paul Dojack Youth Centre. This position will interest professionals who wish to assist the Ministry deliver a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan The Paul Dojack Youth Centre (PDYC) is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to provide exceptional leadership to a diverse group of employees and clients. As Director of Programs, you and your staff will provide supervision to secure, remand and open custody of youth, ages 12 to 17 under the Youth Criminal Justice Act In keeping with the ministry's strategic plan, the successful candidate is responsible for ensuring that facility and community security and safety standards are maintained and that the rehabilitative and reintegration program focus is supported using an integrated case management system to reduce recidivism. You will lead the development, planning, coordination and evaluation of operation and facility programming and will be responsible for the provision of basic physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs, education, employment, recreation and structure for youth in custody You will provide leadership and supervision to approximately 100 full-time youth workers and administrative staff, as well as approximately 80 permanent part-time employees (including teachers, nurses, Clinical Directors and other professionals). This includes all aspects of Human Resource Management including the recruitment and retention of employees. You will ensure new and existing staff are oriented and trained in legislation, mandate and policy; interpret and administer the SGEU PS/GE Collective Agreement, Acts, Regulations, policies and procedures in relation to the day-to-day operation and management of the facility. You will also maintain and develop static and dynamic safety and security procedures to ensure the safety of adolescent clients, employees and the community Typically, to qualify for this position, you will possess a degree in social work or related discipline, combined with proven leadership experience in human resource management. You will have knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice System and related legislation; public safety programs and evidence-based practices, decision-making processes, budget and policy development in a public sector environment and human resource practices and knowledge of labour relations and union-management procedures You must be able to think and act strategically as you manage the details of daily operations. You must have superior communication and interpersonal skills in order to partner and foster exceptional relationships with Health/Mental Health, Addictions Services, Saskatchewan Advocate for Children and Youth, First Nation and Metis agencies, local police, the courts, and community organizations.
