About the position
The Senior Director of Finance role is the senior leadership role responsible for leading the CGS Canada and CGS Immersive Finance Team. The position reports to the President of Enterprise Learning and is overseen by the CFO in the company’s New York head office.
The role requires supervisory skills, comprehensive subject matter expertise of end-to-end financial accounting, financial planning, reporting, and analysis, and is required to understand and adhere to legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as to internal standards and policies.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:
- Drive the company’s financial planning and reporting, including Budgets, Forecasts, Monthly Financial Statements, Project Profitability, and Year End Statements;
- Financial Consultancy – Provide financial expertise, support, and guidance to finance and project teams and leadership to enable effective decision-making and achievement of short- and long-term goals;
- Supervise and coach - Achieve optimal team performance by creating a culture of coaching through consistent feedback and mentoring; broaden thinking, identify strengths and development needs, clarify milestones or measures of success, and create accountability for achieving established goals;
- Work with foreign currencies and multi-currency reporting;
- Control and evaluate the organization’s capital investments;
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations;
- Manage financial aspects of customer relationships;
- Manage vendor relationships;
- Set up and oversee the company’s finance ERP System (Currently Microsoft Dynamics but migrating to NetSuite);
- Ensure compliance with the law and company’s policies;
- Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments;
- Decide on investment and/or hedging strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
Qualifications
- CPA designation;
- 8+ years of progressive experience in an accounting role;
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. The ability to coach, manage, direct, and develop others is required;
- Good experience in auditing;
- Ability to strategize and solve problems;
- Strong leadership and organizational skills;
- Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills;
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers;
- An understanding of Project Accounting;
- Experience working under US GAAP;
- Strong technical and analytical skills; high attention to detail;
- Significant experience in Excel;
- Process improvement driven;
- Able to translate strategic direction into tactical operational plans;
- Highly effective at communicating, collaborating, building relationships, and influencing others;
- Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills;
- Effective time management, organization, and prioritization capabilities;
- Confidentiality and discretion required;
- Fluency in English.
Location
CGS office in Saint John, NB. Also, a willingness to travel is required.
