The Accessibility Coordinator shall be an employee of River Clyde Pageant, who will administer the position.

The River Clyde Pageant is a non-profit organization that unites local creators, volunteers & professional artists across cultures & creative practices in the making of ambitious, awe-inspiring outdoor theatre and seasonal events. Our central project is our summer production of the same name, created and performed in New Glasgow, PEI since 2016. Other annual projects include Sharing the Field, a weekend celebration of art, food and community during the fall harvest, and the River Clyde Solstice Walk, an outdoor lantern walk celebrating the winter solstice.

this town is small (TTIS) is Prince Edward Island’s artist-run centre, established in 2010. TTIS is a spaceless organization that is committed to supporting contemporary art through diverse and supportive community partnerships, providing opportunities for artists and making connections with the public. It operates from an office space in The Vessel in Charlottetown, PEI and it presents exhibitions, residencies, workshops, artist talks, and other programming with partnering venues across Prince Edward Island.

Under the Spire Music Festival, formerly known as Indian River Festival, has been presenting the very best in classical, traditional, folk, jazz and world music in Historic St. Mary’s since 1996. An annual destination event for tourists and locals alike, it continues to facilitate restoration projects to preserve this beloved venue while maintaining a busy concert schedule from June-September each year.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Accessibility Coordinator will work closely with the staff and core teams of River Clyde Pageant, this town is small, and Under the Spire festival to advance accessibility initiatives within each organization’s programming and operations. In contributing to this project, the Accessibility Coordinator will work to promote accessibility within the arts on PEI and realize a shared vision of greater inclusivity in our present work and future aspirations. The Accessibility Coordinator will be offered mentorship from an Accessibility Consultant in an effort to share knowledge and foster connections between disability and arts communities. The Accessibility Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of accessibility goals and measures at each organization. The scale and scope of this work will be kept reasonable for the Accessibility Coordinator, who will split their time between the River Clyde Pageant (June-October), this town is small (November-January), and Under the Spire Festival (February-May), with some crossover therein. See below for specific duties related to each organization.

The position includes the opportunity for self-directed work. We are committed to the development of Accessibility practices across PEI’s arts sector; however, we recognize that this is a huge task and cannot realistically be taken on by one person. We want to grant the Accessibility Coordinator the agency to decide how they can best contribute to this larger goal during their tenure. Self-directed work could include research, the development of shared resources, advocacy, or something else entirely. Once a plan has been mutually agreed upon, hours will be set aside as part of this contract to dedicate to this work. Support will be provided to the Accessibility Coordinator from the three participating organizations.
