In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager, Medical Staff Communication, Education and Development, the Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and administration of the Medical Staff Education and Development program within Island Health. The Coordinator utilizes a consultative process to promote the ongoing development, implementation and monitoring of a reliable and effective Program including but not limited to: (1) Supports the maintenance and monitoring of online learning platforms and directories; (2) Coordination of medical staff into online module learning and classroom training opportunities for medical staff, and orientation purposes; (3) Coordination of medical staff and medical leader events and workshop including accreditation and inventory of clinical rounds and leadership development workshops (4) Coordination of orientation for new medical staff in partnership with the Medical Staff Associations.

The Coordinator provides guidance and expert knowledge to staff and medical staff in best practices for medical staff engagement and development including requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation to ensure consistency across Island Health.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a relevant diploma or baccalaureate degree in Business, Health, Education or Public Administration supplemented by training or coursework in Continuing Adult Education and 5-7 years related work experience in a complex organization.

The position requires considerable knowledge of continuing medical education principles and practices, organizational development, administration and the current Island Health service delivery issues and challenges. In addition, experience in developing and promoting adult educational materials and facilitating workshops is required.

Valid BC Driver's License.
