Description
- Execute and supervise food production activities
- Assist in the development of standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation
- Guide the kitchen team in day-to-day operations including with training new staff
- Conduct, coordinate, and supervise inventories and the placement of orders
- Maintain and monitor the quality of food produced
- Responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in running a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- The role requires adaptability, strong leadership, and the ability to handle physical and mental demands in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Review and update catering manuals and software as necessary
- Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are consistently maintained throughout all kitchen areas. Ensures Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations are followed
- Lead the kitchen and perform key administrative duties when the Executive Chef is away
- Assist in bi-annual price checks, sourcing of new products, and other inventory-related tasks
- Attend key off-premise catering events to assist in ensuring client & guest satisfaction
Requirements
- 3 years culinary experience in catering, hotels, or large-scale restaurants
- 3 years of practical kitchen supervisory experience preferred
- Food safe level 1
- Ability to motivate and engage the team
- Positive attitude and calm under pressure
- Aptitude with numbers and ability to calculate food requirements
- Knowledge of current food trends and techniques
- Lifting of supplies, equipment, and food products will be required.
- Exposure to typical kitchen hazards is expected.
- This role involves long periods of standing and physical movement.
