Project Manager – Engineering, PMP
Mississauga, ON
30-40% travel (Ontario / Quebec)
The Company:
Our Client is a long-standing Canadian privately owned company that continues to be one of Canada’s leading Food and Beverage providers across the country.
The Opportunity:
Looking for a strong Project Manager with 5-8 years of Project Management experience leading technical manufacturing / engineering type projects – ideally within Food, Beverage, or CPG manufacturing.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
· Accountable for plant operational projects development and execution from end to end.
· Lead Business case development, contract and vendor management, procurement, participation in design review, installation, start-up and handover.
· Setting up meetings, preparing documentation specifications, purchase orders and contract documents, keeping track of documents including drawings and other vendor information, cost tracking, schedules.
· Provide oversight & monitoring of projects to ensure project tasks are completed in accordance with project goals including design intent, quality, health and safety, budget, costs, schedule & contractual requirements.
· Demonstrate strong leadership and people skills to effectively liaise with a diverse group of people from management, cross-functional department personnel, plant employees, consultants, vendors, contractors, government agencies etc.
· Provide stakeholders, management, and others regular updates in a succinct manner.
· Visualize the entire project, anticipate areas of risks and develop mitigating strategies.
· Have the capability to read and understand technical documentation including engineering drawings, construction shop drawings and technical specifications. For example, to be able to check & validate all final design documentation and drawings according to design & contract requirement, to ensure completeness & accuracy.
· Develop templates for project management processes.
· Take interest in investigating and implementing a variety of projects for the future of work and business continuity
· Be flexible, willing to learn and apply cross-functional duties as required by the department lead.
Qualifications & Competencies:
· Five (5)+ plus years project management engineering experience is mandatory.
· Preferred experience in packaging, Food & Beverages, Consumer Goods or Pharmaceuticals food
· Project management experience leading projects with mechanical, electrical, automation and robotics equipment as well, building repairs.
· University degree in automation, robotics, mechatronics, electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.
· PMP certification preferred
· Excellent command of the English language, French language a benefit
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Effective in building constructive relationships; uses tact; interacts with others in an open, friendly manner, encourages collaboration.
· Demonstrated success in using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods of communication to gain agreement or acceptance of a plan or activity; Emotionally intelligent
· Hands-on, can-do attitude to drive execution to achieve desired results
· Flexibility, Agility, Adaptability - Adapts to changes; changes strategy in response to new information; responds appropriately and quickly without having all parameters defined; demonstrate tolerance for speed and uncertainty.
· Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
· Proficiency with 3D CAD systems and experience using drafting software like CAD & 3D modeling
· Excellent computer literacy & skills (MS Office applications) required
· Ability & knowledge to work safely in a construction environment
· Good understanding of Health & Safety, environmental regulations, and various building & safety code standards
· Ability to travel approximately 30-40% of your time across Canada
· Flexibility to work off hours to limit project impact to day-to-day operations
