01.441 Classroom Management – Monday to Thursday – April 29 – May 23 – 1:30 – 4:00 PM

Effective classroom management requires effective interaction and intervention, the prevention of classroom problems, and where problems do arise, the development of procedures and corrective measures. This course explores those areas through the study of current models for classroom management. Students will relate management theory to the in-school experience and develop a personal management style.

04:353 Evaluation and Assessment (EY-MY) – Monday to Thursday – April 29 – May 23 – 9:00 – 11:30 AM

Using current provincial curricula and an emphasis on inclusive classroom practices, this course will instruct pre-service teacher candidates (EY-MY) in a range of formative and summative evaluation and assessment techniques that enable educators to evaluate and assess student learning. Pre-service teachers will be instructed in classroom-based assessment practices that reflect current provincial curricula in their teachable subject and grade areas. From a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) perspective, the course will also cover the ethics and administration of Level A tests. The course will inform pre-service teacher candidates about the importance of using assessment to drive instruction in order to meet the needs of all students in their classroom spaces. The course will also address practices to communicate student progress to care givers and other pertinent professional stakeholders.
