Job description

This is a contract position for a Technical Writer for our public sector client.
Work location: Peterborough
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
• Creation of technical specifications for systems development
• Design, implement and work with the project team in completing all relevant and required documentation in alignment with OPS standards
• Undertake special assignments/sub-projects as assigned
• Conduct, assess, evaluate and document stakeholder interests and business needs
• Create and validate business scenarios and use cases
• Produce visual depiction of use cases and process flows; ensure alignment with the program area and associated
• Business architecture, as well as traceability to solution logical and physical architectures
• Create, review, provide input and support of Enterprise Architecture artifacts for all checkpoints as required

• Create system and user interface design and modifications (data & screen) as required
• Review all test scenarios to ensure the requirements are met; establish traceability matrix to monitor output
• Ensure alignment and adherence to Ministry of Government Services’ processes and standards
• Support the testing team during system and UAT testing
• Participate in Knowledge transfer
• Creating detailed business analysis documents
• Demonstrated experience in creating user manuals and reference guides for both technical and non-technical users
• Excellent writing skills in English language
• Knowledge and experience with graphic design principles and software. Expert use of Microsoft Office Suite, Good graphic design skills
• SharePoint online management and maintenance experience
• Experience managing and organizing technical reporting and training material in an online SharePoint
• Easy client reference and recall for shared documentation/information.
• Must have at least 10+ years of experience in Technical Writing with above average communication skills especially in written English
• Must have the ability to promote and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders while also building team capacity.
• Must ability to produce enhanced SharePoint intranet site to ensure that users can perform their jobs more efficiently and support them in having a seamless workflow
• Must have the skillset to change technical terms to non-technical terms and vice-versa for better communication back to the client
• Must have the experience to plan, research, design and develop content in documentation materials to support the PSRN project
• All roles procured are required to be cleared through the Contractor Security Clearance Process of the OPS. Security Clearance process, levels, roles etc. are subject to change without prior notice. Candidates may be required to undergo revised/new process (or levels) any time prior or during the term of the contract

Qualifications
- 5 Years of Experience in Public safety radio or telecommunications infrastructure experience in a large public sector entity
- 10+ years of experience in Technical Writing with above average communication skills especially in written English
- The ability to promote and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders while also building team capacity
- Ability to produce an enhanced SharePoint intranet site to ensure that users can perform their jobs more efficiently and support them in having a seamless workflow
- The skillset to change technical terms to non-technical terms and vice-versa for better communication back to the client.

Nice to have:
- Previous public sector experience is an asset
