Task description:
Make a difference by sharing your well-behaved dog with Thomson Centre residents. Dog visits bring comfort, joy & unconditional companionship.
Responsibilities:
• Report to Thomson Centre staff & visit with residents who love dogs.
• Engage with residents – encourage interested residents to pet your four legged friend and to share their stories.
• Follow Pet Visitor program.
Skills needed:
Compassion, patience, good listening skills and acceptance of people with declining memory and physical abilities.
Basic dog obedience and a dog who is happy and comfortable in the facility
Note: All dogs will be screened for suitability.
Time commitment:
One hour per week
