About Western

Since 1878, Western University has been committed to serving our communities through the pursuit of academic excellence and by providing students, faculty, and community members with life-long opportunities for intellectual, social, and cultural growth. We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference.

About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students). The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing educates nurses who are reflective practitioners and provides recognized leadership in nursing research, theory, practice, and policy advancements.

As the Director of several nationally funded Tri-Council grants, Dr. Fiona Webster leads a large, externally funded research program in the area of chronic pain and social and health inequity. The Partnership for the Engagement of People in Pain Research (PEPR): Advancing EDI and building capacity for critical social science approaches to pain scholarship project is a SSHRC funded project grant

Responsibilities

The Research Hub Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the management, co-design and co-development of a national "Engagement Hub" for people with lived experience of pain (PWLP) and other intersecting experiences of inequity. The Hub will be informed by community consultations with a variety of equity-seeking groups and will eventually be a virtual gathering place for community building and collective action. The Research Hub Coordinator will work collaboratively with members of the Partnership for the Engagement of People in Pain Research (PEPR) Leadership Team and partners to help support the conduct of the consultations, integrate the findings into the Hub design and processes, and support Hub members to advance shared goals. This position reports directly to Fiona Webster (UWO) or the PEPR Research Manager.
