Job Purpose and Impact

The Financial Accountant will help to establish and maintain accounting policies and fiscal controls and help prepare moderately complex financial reports and safeguard the organization’s assets. This role would also support the (Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain business) CASC Canada business in corporate financial reporting for Grain, Crop Inputs and Processing business segments and review of location expenses. Will also be responsible for supporting the CASC Canada business which encompasses supporting operations, weekly reporting and rebates and programs.

As well will be executing commodity P&L (profit and loss) reconciliations and financial analysis to explain business performance to multiple stakeholders at different levels of the organization.

Key Accountabilities

• Apply accounting techniques and standard practices to classify and record financial transactions.
• Help maintain and monitor the control of accounts and records in areas such as disbursements, expenses, tax payments and income.
• Identify and test for risks in Canadian Financial and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) reporting.
• Work with commercial teams to identify opportunities that bring value through increased revenue and reduced costs.
• Partner with other finance teams to reconcile P&L (profit and loss) estimates to ensure financial reporting accuracy, specifically with regards to grain/product margin accounting.
• Review and create standard accounting report packages, and financial statements.
• Contribute input to new setup and changes in existing financial applications to optimize effectiveness.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two years of related work experience with financial statements and analysis
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Accounting and reporting experience
• Experience in financial statements (profit and loss)
• Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge or experience working with agriculture and/or grain/crop inputs business
• SAP experience
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification
