Description

The Mechanical Engineering Technician plays an essential role within a construction or civil engineering company. This professional is responsible for supporting engineers and project teams in the design, construction and maintenance of mechanical systems used in various construction and civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers in the design and modeling of mechanical systems, using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to produce detailed plans, diagrams and drawings.
Support project engineers in the selection of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Perform sizing calculations and stress analyzes on mechanical components to guarantee their reliability and safety in construction projects.
Provide technical support to field teams by interpreting plans and resolving mechanical issues encountered during construction or commissioning of facilities.
Collaborate with other members of the project team, including civil, electrical and structural engineers, to ensure the effective integration of mechanical systems into construction projects.
Assist in the selection and procurement of materials and mechanical components necessary for the completion of projects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and technical specifications.
Take readings and samples on construction sites.
Participate in meetings with subcontractors, suppliers and customers.
Participate in testing, commissioning and validation of mechanical systems installed on construction sites, ensuring they operate in accordance with project requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, changes to plans and issues encountered, ensuring traceability and compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

Degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or in a related field.
Experience in a mechanical engineering technician role, preferably in the construction or civil engineering field, an asset.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.
Knowledge of basic principles of mechanical engineering, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics and materials.
Ability to interpret technical plans and diagrams, as well as resolve technical problems in the field.
Communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
Attention to detail and ability to work precisely in a dynamic and changing environment.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines on construction projects.
Excellent oral and written communication.
