Overview
Our client is a construction management and full-service general contractor. They provide design, development, renovation, restoration, and remodeling for hospitality, residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. They constantly strive to provide on-site performance, prioritizing safety, optimum planning, and coordination.
Job Purpose This position is directly responsible for the day-to-day management of construction. The Project Manager will deliver technically challenging projects in government, hotel and/or commercial projects and develop and assist in pricing new project opportunities. This role is also responsible for ensuring projects meet Company and industry standards while meeting project timelines and budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities • Planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating construction projects from start to finish according to scope, schedule, specifications, and budget alongside the Site Superintendent
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
• Preparing progress reports and issuing progress schedules to clients
• Preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates
• Responsible for delivering estimated margins monthly as requested
• Track project costs
• Directing the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions
• Ensure all projects assigned meet anticipated schedules, stay within budget, exceed client satisfaction, and are executed at the highest level of quality expected.
• Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control, and change order administration.
• Monitor site safety and ensure that everyone on site adheres to all health and safety standards and reports issues
• Prepare and submit the daily report and job hazard analysis report to the H&S Coordinator
• Complete job site inspection on a weekly basis
• Execute safety talks with the team on a biweekly basis or as needed
• Hiring and supervising the activities of the subcontractors and subordinate staff
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Developing and implementing quality control programs
• Manage and execute the Contemplated Change Order (CCO), Change Order (CO) and Change Directive (CD) process in a timely manner, responding to the time frames requested by the Client Representative and contract specifications; in all cases, follow up with until an approved CO is received within the timelines of contract specifications.
• Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills Required • 10+ years of Canadian construction project experience
• Certification in Project Management
• Knowledge of Ontario Construction Regulations
• Experience in regulating a positive Health and Safety environment and demonstrating a Safety-First focus attitude
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and related Building Codes
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
• Highly proficient in MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel
• Proven ability to keep projects on track and complete them promptly
• Ability to anticipate and deal with obstacles that may arise
• Knowledge and understanding of costing and budgeting
