FINANCIAL ANALYST

About the Role
We are seeking a professional and dedicated Financial Analyst who is passionate about growing the S&T brand through meaningful financial insights to drive action and decision making.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, your primary job responsibilities will include:
- Expense Management:
- Track and analyze operating expenses, including identifying areas to teams for cost optimization
- Provide guidance on expense management to departments to ensure financial efficiency and that annual budgets are met
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and timely receipt of accounts receivables
- Prepare budget vs. actuals variance reports to teams to identify areas of savings and pressures
- Payroll:
- Execute end-to-end payroll processes, including collecting and verifying timesheets with department leads, calculating wages and ensuring timely payments to employees
- Stay up to date with federal, provincial and local payroll regulations, ensuring compliance with tax laws and other statutory requirements
- Maintain accurate and up to date employee payroll records, including start date, probationary periods, termination dates, requesting ROE’s, etc.
- Assist in administering employee benefits related to payroll such as monitoring eligibility for health insurance, calculating premiums, etc.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll information, adhering to data protection regulations
- Audit and Control:
- Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of financial and operational controls
- Identify areas of material risk and misstatement and provide recommendations for enhancing internal processes
- Ensure compliance with established internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Design, implement and monitor internal control frameworks to safeguard company assets and data, including cybersecurity
- Ad-hoc projects and financial analyses, as required
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, and/or other relevant business area
- Degree in accounting or business/commerce, with preference for those working towards, or completed, a relevant industry-recognized certification (e.g. CPA)
- Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and analytical skills with ability to draw insights and convey complex information in a straightforward manner
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities with little direction in a fast-paced environment
- Strong skills using Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Quickbooks is an asset
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, strong communication skills and personally interested in health and fitness
